For a few hundred thousand dollars, a person can become a millionaire.
If he or she can manage to find a job as an avionics mechanic, that’s great.
But for most people, that kind of pay isn’t enough to make a living.
A new report by the National Institute of Standards and Technology found that, on average, the typical mechanic earns $40,000 a year and has $16,000 in annual savings.
For many people, those savings can’t keep up with their mortgage or bills.
The new report, called Mechanical Handicap, analyzed the incomes of about 500 people with avionics skills and found that nearly one-third of the people were earning less than $40 an hour.
Some had jobs that paid them less than that.
The average person making that wage in 2017 would have saved about $2,600 a year, according to the study.
“If you have an airplane, the salary you’re getting is not going to be sufficient,” said Bill Rader, a senior fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis who led the study for NIST.
“It’s just not enough for a lot of people.”
The NIST study found that more than half of the jobs in which the most avionics mechanics were employed in 2017 did not pay enough for basic living expenses.
In most cases, the paychecks weren’t enough for the family to afford basic needs.
The report found that about a quarter of those who made $40 to $60 an hour earned less than half their salary.
The most vulnerable are people who can’t find a full-time job in the aviation industry and aren’t earning enough to support themselves or their families.
They may be struggling to keep up on their bills, and they may not be able to find work for the hours that they work.
The NBS study found there are more than a half million people in the United States who are avionics technicians who have incomes below the poverty level.
The study found the vast majority of those people work in jobs that require skills that require a high level of education and training, such as pilots, mechanics, and engineers.
That means that they might not have access to the kind of job training and skills that a person with a college degree or a career in technology would have.
“You’re not going get an A in math or science,” Rader said.
“The people who are working are not going out to college, or they’re not able to get into a graduate program.
You’re not building a career.”
One in four people who made less than the poverty line are women, and half of them are African-American, the study found.
The pay gaps that exist for women and African-Americans are not confined to avionics.
The National Institutes of Health estimates that at least one in three African- American women who receive care in emergency rooms are paid less than minimum wage because of their gender.
The lack of pay disparities for women who work in STEM occupations, which include engineering, science, and technology, is even more significant.
In 2016, NIST found that black women make just 79 cents for every dollar that a white woman made in the same field.
But those are not the only gaps that remain.
According to the NBS report, nearly two-thirds of people who earned less that the poverty rate had debt that was at least $2.4 million.
Those people were more likely to have some type of disability, be incarcerated, or have a mental illness.
In some cases, those gaps are so big that it means they are living in poverty.
Those with a disability, such and those with mental illnesses, are disproportionately represented in the working poor.
In 2018, nearly one in six working poor adults had a disability and were living in the bottom quintile of income, according the report.
“These are people that are just living paycheck to paycheck,” Rimmer said.
And that is one of the reasons why this report was so important.
NIST is hoping that the results will be useful to other agencies and businesses that need to better understand how to provide accessible work and care to workers and the public.
The research will also be helpful to people who don’t have access, the report found.
It’s important to note that there are different types of jobs that are traditionally considered to be the lowest paying.
In addition to the avionics jobs, the other categories include maintenance, mechanics and technicians, sales and support, and financial planners.
The researchers also looked at occupations like financial advisers, investment advisors, real estate agents, and tax consultants.
The types of occupations that are considered to have the highest wages and that are most commonly paid low are not necessarily the ones that are expected to be most effective at creating jobs for people with disabilities.
“There are many professions that are assumed to be less accessible than other occupations, but we think that is because there is so much demand for those professions,” Riner said.
